July 21, 2008 - Karsten's Tri for Dakota at Guelph Lake on August 30th

Colin and I had such a great day at our race in Peterborough. It was made even better when our friend Karsten stated that he wanted to do something to help us raise money for our Tri for Dakota fund. After a few conversations, and some minor details worked out, we very are happy to announce that Karsten Madsen will be racing at Guelph Lake on Saturday August 30th to raise money for the Tri for Dakota fund at the Sunnybrook Foundation. All funds raised through Karsten's race will benefit the Sunnybrook Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Perinatal Research.

Colin and I have known Karsten for the last 3 years. I'm thinkin his motto for life is "If you are not first, you are last". He is 16 years old and he is living in Hamilton with other members of the Canadian Cross Training Club in preparation for the Jr. Triathlon Nationals on August 18. Karsten is coached by very well known Ontario Triathlete and Doctor - Len Gushe (you have heard his name before in our updates section - I had planned to swim Peterborough in twice his time from last year).

Kasten is provincially ranked in cross country mountain bike racing (3rd) and road cycling (5th). He is working hard, trying to make the 2009 Canadian Jr. Elite team, so that he can go to the World Triathlon Championships. His long term goals are to get on the Triathlon World Cup circuit and qualify for the next Olympics.

What does he do other than Triathlon - well, not reading books!! Karsten really enjoys road hockey. He has has a blog which you can find at http://karstenmadsen.blogspot.com

Karsten will have his own donation link set up by the Sunnybrook foundation in the next week which you will be able to access from this page on our website. Until that time, if you would like to make a donation to Karsten's Tri for Dakota, please go to our donations page and when making your donation online or via cheque - make a note on the comments area that states "KARSTEN's Tri for Dakota".

Karsten, on behalf of Colin, Jaxon and I we are very grateful for your sweet offer and your enthusiasm to help us raise money for the Tri for Dakota fund ....THANKS KARSTEN!!!!!!!!
