Colin Gravlev and Tammy Lyle-Gravlev will be participating in the TriSport ½ Ironman in Peterborough on July 6 2008.  We are raising funds for Sunnybrook Hospital in loving memory of our daughter Dakota Skye.  Fifty percent of donations will go to the Perinatal Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with the other fifty percent going towards the Perinatal Research Fund.
There were complications with Tammy's pregnancy right from the beginning. After we thought that the worst was over, she was put on at-home bed rest due to placenta previa. At week 23 gestation, her membrane ruptured and she was then hospitalized for what would be the rest of her pregnancy. Tammy was monitored for 3 weeks and had lost most of her amniotic fluid, which caused Dakota’s body weight to put too much pressure on the umbilical cord. On Monday June 4 2007, Tammy had an emergency C-Section at 26 weeks gestation. Dakota was born at 4:40 pm and weighed 585 grams, 12.5 inches. She had a great first day, but a bad second night and by morning her lungs had failed. Sadly, Dakota passed away on June 6th, 2007 at 7:10 am. Her due date was September 15, 2007.
